Atlantic salmon / Salmo salar

Current reference assembly for Atlantic salmon is Ssal_v3.1 (released in 2021). Ssal_v3.1 was sequenced using long-read technology, which more accurately resolves similar duplicated regions and contains far fewer unplaced scaffolds than the earlier reference assembly ICSASG_v2 (released in 2015).
Two additional high-quality long-read assemblies, Ssal_ALTA (European origin) and Ssal_Brian_v1.0 (North-American origin), have been made available with annotations from the Ensembl Rapid pipeline.
