Atlantic salmon were raised on either marine fish oil (MA) or vegetable oil (VO) diets. From these two control diets, fish were switched to the opposite diet, MA to VO (MA.VO) or VO to MA (VO.MA) before smoltification. At various time points (days after switch), individuals were taken for tissue sampling and RNA-Sequencing to measure gene expression response.
Gene expression is shown as normalised Fragments Per Kilobase per Million (FPKM). Sample FPKM (small dots) and mean sample FPKM (large dots) are grouped and coloured by the feed treatment. Lines show the trend in gene expression levels over time in response to the feed treatment. White stars mean no significant change in expression compared to starting feed at day 0, while red stars show a significant difference in expression (FDR < 0.05).
